We do not recruit anyone who simply applies; instead, we select individuals who demonstrate compassion, patience, emotional intelligence, and a genuine commitment to delivering high-quality care. Our recruitment pipeline includes initial screening to assess communication, professionalism and attitude, a formal interview to evaluate experience, values and understanding of care, a skills and competency review, a character assessment to ensure suitability for supporting vulnerable individuals, and verification of past care experience where relevant. We choose people who reflect our standards, not just those who meet the minimum requirements.
Before any staff member is placed, they must complete all compliance checks to ensure safety and transparency from the very beginning. These checks include an enhanced DBS certificate, right to work verification, two professional references, full employment history, mandatory care training certificates, medication or specialist training where required, identity verification, and proof of address. We never place anyone who has not met every requirement.
All staff receive up-to-date mandatory training, covering areas such as safeguarding adults, health and safety, infection control, moving and handling, basic life support, medication awareness, fire safety, equality and diversity, and record keeping and confidentiality. Staff who are new to certain environments may also complete induction or shadowing to ensure they fully understand the needs of the service and the individuals they support.
Good carers keep learning, and we maintain high standards by offering regular refresher training, competency checks, one-to-one supervision, feedback reviews, and support with personal development goals. This approach ensures that staff remain confident, motivated, and compliant throughout their employment.
